“We felt that older teens were often neglected at Christmas”
With the help of their parents, Jake (11) and Andrew (5) Poirier wanted to make a difference in their community. The two brothers presented The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk with a package of gift cards to be given to teens in care of the Society during the Child and Youth Christmas Party on November 29, 2009.
The brothers were able to purchase gift cards with savings from their allowances and support from their parents.
“We felt that older teens were often neglected at Christmas but are the ones that need the most help. It was a decision made by the entire family,” the children’s mother reported.
The Poirier family, who reside in Caledonia, have a history of helping others in the community through their support of local food drives and the Living Rock outreach programs.
The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk wish to extend our gratitude and thanks to the Poirier family for helping children and youth at Christmas. If you wish to help children and youth in care of the Society, please call 1-888-227-5437 or (519) 587-5437, locally.
