Kinship Care is a type of substitute care available to children who are in the care and custody of the Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk. The CAS can place a child with a family member or someone outside the family who has a significant relationship with the child.
What do I have to do?
For a child in care of the CAS to be placed in your home., your family must successfully complete the Ontario SAFE Home Study process. Children’s Aid Societies in Ontario are required to use this process to approve a home as a licensed Foster Home.
How do I get Started?
If you or someone you know would like to provide a home for a child in the care and custody of the Society, please call the CAS at (519) 587-5437 or 1-888-CAS-KIDS and ask for the Kinship Department.
Kinship Services
Some children require substitute care because parents are experiencing temporary difficulties. You may be in a position to support children related to you, or children known to you in the community. These children are not in the Society’s custody, but a social worker can help support the placement in your home.
How can I help?
If you have been asked to consider taking a child into your home, a Kinship Services Worker will get in touch with you to assess whether your home environment and the people living in it can provide safe and competent care for a child.
No one has contacted me but I think I can help!
If you believe there is a situation where you could help support a child, please call the CAS at (519) 587-5437 or 1-888-CAS-KIDS and ask for the Resources Department.
