It has been another successful year for Christmas Wishes hosted by CD 98.9 FM and Aitken Motors. During the months of November and December, radio listeners sponsor gift requests from children need in the community.
This year, through the efforts of CD 98.9, the Society was able to receive 200 gifts to distribute to children in the community. The station was also able to raise 150 gifts on behalf of the Women’s Shelter in Simcoe.

Back in November when the Little Dreams, Big Dreams Angel Tree was set up in the lobby of Walmart in Simcoe no one was really sure how the community would respond.
The Angel Tree provided an opportunity for the community to give Christmas presents to children in need from the area. Community Living Haldimand, located in Cayuga provides individualized support to those with mental health issues and teaches them life skills, budgeting and social skills. Through support and advocacy, they are responsible for assuring that individuals with intellectual disabilities are treated with dignity and respect.

The Norfolk detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police in Simcoe, have a long history of helping the community through their roles as police officers and through charity and goodwill.

With money raised through staff dress down days, First Ontario Credit Union in Simcoe recently donated toys, gift cards for food and clothing to The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk.
The donations are the result of a CAS family sponsorship program that staff at First Ontario has been supporting for “five years now,” advised Brenda Bruley from the Credit Union.
