Many thanks to Lynn Valley Lions

The Society extends its appreciation and thanks to the Lynn Valley Lions Club who have been supporting the Annual Child and Youth Christmas party by purchasing toys for children and youth in care.

Lynn Valley is part of a small group of organizations that have been assisting the Society with the Child and Youth Christmas party for several years. Other regular contributors include Laidlaw Carriers and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Simcoe.

Pat Jarrett from the Lions Club stated, “We have been supplying toys (for the party) for at least 8 years. We know that there is a need in our community and we like to focus on children and youth. We set aside funds from our budget that is assisted by events such as our Ice Cream Fest on the second weekend of July.”

The Society is honoured to work with such caring community partners who strive to make a difference in the lives of children and youth.

A community that cares

Don Hutchinson from Simcoe recently celebrated his milestone 50th birthday with a party. After discussions with his wife Kathie, the couple asked party guests to bring a donation of Christmas toys in place of birthday presents.

“I have everything I need, so Kathie and I thought it would be a good idea to get everyone to bring a donation to give to children in need at Christmas,” reported Mr. Hutchinson.

The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk would like to extend our thanks to Don and Kathie for donating dozens of toys to the Society which will be used to help disadvantaged children in care and from the community.

The Hutchinson’s truly belong to a community that nurtures the lives and dreams of children. If you are interested in helping out this Christmas or at other times of the year please contact us at 1-888-CAS-KIDS or (519) 587-5437.

Norfolk OPP adopt CAS families

The Norfolk County detachment of the OPP, once again joined the Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk to sponsor needy families and children this past holiday season.

On Monday December 22nd, 2008 the Norfolk County OPP presented gifts and food donations to Haldimand and Norfolk Children’s Aid Society to hand to sponsored families. The donations were collected and donated by police officers and their families.

For the past several years the Norfolk County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have donated gifts to children and families in need, involved with the Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk. Mark Foster from Norfolk OPP reported that, “every child should be able to open a gift on Christmas morning.” Through the generous donations of the O.P.P. many children and families were able to have a special Christmas in 2008.

The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk extends our gratitude and appreciation for Norfolk O.P.P.’s contributions and dedication to children and families in our community, not only at Christmas but all year round.

Thanks for Making a Difference

The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk thank all those individuals and organizations in the community who helped children and families over Christmas. Your efforts and contributions helped hundreds of children and families in Haldimand and Norfolk.

It is important to note that the Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk offers services and programs that are not under our mandate. Such services require support from the community. This year help send disadvantaged children and youth to camp, help them participate in recreational activities and get an ongoing education.

Christmas Wishes

On November 17, 2008, the Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk kicks off it’s Christmas Wishes campaign with the assistance and support of CD 98.9 FM and Aitken Motors in Simcoe. Embrace the spirit of Christmas by helping a child in your community this year.

Here’s how you can help:

During the months of November and December, listen to CD 98.9, who will be announcing the Christmas wishes of disadvantaged children from Haldimand and Norfolk. If you are interested in pledging a gift you heard about on air, contact the station.

It has been recommended that gift donations do not exceed $50.00. Gifts can be dropped off at Aitken Motors at 51 Queensway East, Simcoe, Ontario.

Since the beginning of the Christmas Wishes program, the Children’s Society of Haldimand and Norfolk and it’s partners, CD 98.9 and Aitken Motors have made the Christmas wishes of over 200 children come true each year in Haldimand and Norfolk counties.

We would like to thank the genorosity of all those that have helped in the past and encourage you to help a child and family experience a happy holiday this year.
