The little bank with a big heart

With money raised through staff dress down days, First Ontario Credit Union in Simcoe recently donated toys, gift cards for food and clothing to The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk.

The donations are the result of a CAS family sponsorship program that staff at First Ontario has been supporting for “five years now,” advised Brenda Bruley from the Credit Union.

The Simcoe branch of the First Ontario Credit Union has also been supporting the caring Cupboard through a local food drive which runs into the beginning of January 2010. While gifts such as toys are wonderful for children at Christmas, many parents struggle to feed their children and themselves. Please visit the branch, located at 107 Queensway East in Simcoe to donate food to families in need.

The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk wish to express our gratitude to First Ontario Credit Union for their ongoing support of children and families in our communities.

Community Minded Brokers Minding the Community

The Society would like to thank McKiee & Farrar, Gair and Tri-County Insurance for contributing $1,000.00 to the Fresh Air Fund which helps children and youth in the community attend camp and participate in recreational activities.

Motivated by their own slogan, “community-minded brokers minding the community,” McKiee & Farrar, Gair & Tri-County Insurance started a new and unique program in January, 2009. The company decided to allocate a portion of their budget to help community groups by donating $1,000.00 to a different recipient once a month from January 2009 to January, 2010. The Fresh Air Fund was selected as the November recipient.

The Simcoe Chamber of Commerce also recognized the valuable contributions of the Insurers by bestowing them with the 2009 Outstanding Community Service Award on November 4, 2009.

Thank you McKiee & Farrar, Gair and Tri-County Insurance, for joining a community that nurtures the lives and dreams of children.

If you would like to make a donation to the Fresh Air Fund please call 519-587-5437 or 1-888-227-5437.

A community that cares

Don Hutchinson from Simcoe recently celebrated his milestone 50th birthday with a party. After discussions with his wife Kathie, the couple asked party guests to bring a donation of Christmas toys in place of birthday presents.

“I have everything I need, so Kathie and I thought it would be a good idea to get everyone to bring a donation to give to children in need at Christmas,” reported Mr. Hutchinson.

The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk would like to extend our thanks to Don and Kathie for donating dozens of toys to the Society which will be used to help disadvantaged children in care and from the community.

The Hutchinson’s truly belong to a community that nurtures the lives and dreams of children. If you are interested in helping out this Christmas or at other times of the year please contact us at 1-888-CAS-KIDS or (519) 587-5437.

CAS Angel Tree in Walmart Simcoe

The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk is working hard to improve the lives and dreams of children and youth in our communities this Christmas and throughout the year.

As a result of this program and others offered by the Society, you can belong to a community that cares about the well-being of children.

Helping is easy. Just visit the Walmart store in Simcoe, take a tag from the Angel Tree inside the front entrance and purchase a gift in the store.
