The Children’s Aid Society is very thankful for the support of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Simcoe who purchased 50 gifts for our Child and Youth Christmas party. The event was held on November 29th at the Cayuga Kinsmen Hall.

“This year was our 9th year,” reported Betty Brady of St. Peter’s Lutheran. The Church is among several organizations who have supported the Child and Youth Christmas Party for several years.  Other important partners who have provided ongoing support include, the Lynn Valley Lions and Laidlaw Carriers.

Thanks to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for the ongoing support as a partner in the community who nurtures the lives and dreams of children.

Many thanks to Lynn Valley Lions

The Society extends its appreciation and thanks to the Lynn Valley Lions Club who have been supporting the Annual Child and Youth Christmas party by purchasing toys for children and youth in care.

Lynn Valley is part of a small group of organizations that have been assisting the Society with the Child and Youth Christmas party for several years. Other regular contributors include Laidlaw Carriers and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Simcoe.

Pat Jarrett from the Lions Club stated, “We have been supplying toys (for the party) for at least 8 years. We know that there is a need in our community and we like to focus on children and youth. We set aside funds from our budget that is assisted by events such as our Ice Cream Fest on the second weekend of July.”

The Society is honoured to work with such caring community partners who strive to make a difference in the lives of children and youth.

A community that cares

Don Hutchinson from Simcoe recently celebrated his milestone 50th birthday with a party. After discussions with his wife Kathie, the couple asked party guests to bring a donation of Christmas toys in place of birthday presents.

“I have everything I need, so Kathie and I thought it would be a good idea to get everyone to bring a donation to give to children in need at Christmas,” reported Mr. Hutchinson.

The Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk would like to extend our thanks to Don and Kathie for donating dozens of toys to the Society which will be used to help disadvantaged children in care and from the community.

The Hutchinson’s truly belong to a community that nurtures the lives and dreams of children. If you are interested in helping out this Christmas or at other times of the year please contact us at 1-888-CAS-KIDS or (519) 587-5437.
