Back in November when the Little Dreams, Big Dreams Angel Tree was set up in the lobby of Walmart in Simcoe no one was really sure how the community would respond.
The Angel Tree provided an opportunity for the community to give Christmas presents to children in need from the area. It has evolved into a symbol of commitment from the community to care for those in need. Pinned to the tree’s branches, dozens of tags listing the ages and genders of children were selected one by one.
“I never expected anything like this, it is remarkable,” stated Cathy, a Walmart employee who observed in-store purchases accumulate to a donation of over 200 toys. The gifts were collected by the Society and distributed to children and youth in need in Haldimand and Norfolk Counties.
The Society would like to extend our appreciation to the staff and management at Walmart for helping children in need this Christmas. The greatest thanks are owed to all of those in our communities who have demonstrated unparalleled compassion and generosity.
